U9 Division

The U9 division hosts their home tournament on February 28 - March 1, 2026   Once players are rostered to a team, they will be provided a team jersey (to be returned at the end of the season).   Each team will require a volunteer Coach, Assitant Coach(es), Manager, and Treasurer to ensure a successful hockey season.  Applications for Head Coach and Assistant Coach positions are now being accepted, please click HERE to apply.

Parent/Guardian Involvement is Required For the Home Tournament:
All families are expected to volunteer in areas such as:

  • Organizing the tournament
  • Working game shifts 
  • Managing raffle/prize tables


What to expect:

  • Typically teams are formed by mid October
  • Practices only until November 15 at which time exhibition games can occur.
  • As YMH U9 teams do not play in a league, we typically start our inter team games mid-late November, all in a half ice format
  • Tournament play can begin December 1st,  all in a half ice format
  • Additional team fees may be required to cover the costs of tournaments and team events agreed upon by the team
  • Typically teams would participate in an additional 2-3 tournaments 


HOCKEY CANADA INFORMATION ON U9 HALF ICE 

required equipment: 

  • CSA-certified helment with CSA-certified facial protector (cage)
  • Neck guards are mandatory for all ages.
  • Skates
  • Gloves
  • Protective equipment such as shoulder pads/chest protector, elbow pads, pants, jock/pelvis proctector, shin pads. 
  • YMH provides each team with goalie equipment.
